Okavango Delta: common questions

How do you get to the Okavango Delta from the UK?

There are no direct flights to Botswana from the UK. Most people fly to Johannesburg, then connect to Maun. Camps in the delta are usually reached by light aircraft from Maun.

When is the best time to visit the Okavango Delta?

June to September, when the floods are high, the weather is dry and wildlife gathers near the water. The green season, November to March, is cheaper and good for birds.

How many days do you need in the Okavango Delta?

Three or four nights is a good stay, often split between two camps. Many trips combine it with Chobe or Victoria Falls.
