Réunion: common questions

How do you get to Réunion from the UK?

There are no direct flights. Most people fly via Paris, which has direct flights to Saint-Denis, or connect through Mauritius.

Is Réunion good for a beach holiday?

Partly. The west coast has sandy beaches and a coral lagoon around Saint-Gilles, but most people come for the mountains and hiking.

Do you need a car on Réunion?

Yes, really. A hire car is the easiest way to reach the cirques, the volcano and the beaches. Buses run on the main coast roads.

How many days do you need on Réunion?

Allow at least ten days to see the volcano, two or three cirques and some beach time. Two weeks lets you add a multi-day hike.
